PRESCHOOL (ages 2-5)
DESCRIPTION:
Our preschool program provides a nurturing space where learning progresses at each child’s pace. Focused instruction and an encouraging approach are employed to further progress in important cognitive, social and language art skills. Play-based preschool learning with Multi-Sensory centers for Parsha, Yomim Tovim, Alef-Beis, Pre-writing skills, music, and creative art are all applied to advance the student’s shared and independent learning experiences.
"For Man is like the Tree of the Field." (Devarim 20:19) The Rebbe compares the development of a child to that of a new seed. Everything in its environment, every element invested into the growth of the seed, will be amplified in the tree that emerges. This is why we take extreme care to ensure that the growth of these precious seedlings is tended to in a setting that is wholesome, supportive and stimulating.

Scientific studies agree: the benefits of the Performing Arts are overwhelming!
A children’s theater program is a powerful learning experience that boosts literacy, encourages communication, stimulates curiosity, engages the imagination, and increases attention span. Dramatic play transports both the actor and the audience into the hearts and minds of various characters, fostering a greater understanding of the spectrum of human feelings and the actions they inform - all within a carefully constructed and safe environment. BASEMENT #1
SENSORY GYM/POOL/MEN'S MIKVA
DESCRIPTION:
The two main attractions of this floor are both sorely needed, and of great benefit to our community members: a Sensory Gym and a Swimming Pool.
Children who have sensory processing disorder face a set of challenges most other children do not. The goals of parents and therapists of children faced with these challenges are to improve sensory integration. Sensory Gyms are safe-play areas that encourage sensory development, providing the space and resources they need to feel secure while playing and growing at their own pace.
Stress-free, no risk guided activity with a therapist fosters calmness which enhances learning. Through play on equipment that meets the child’s needs, appropriate responses to stimuli become more natural for the child, helping her participate in more activities both academically and socially. As studies have shown, therapeutic play in a Sensory Gym improve fine motor skills, body awareness, cause-and-effect reasoning, and social skills, greatly helping along the therapist’s goal of developmental improvements, while providing an experience for the child that is both supportive and fun.
Pools are fun for the whole family! Aquatic Exercise builds endurance, muscle strength, posture, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. While providing a workout for nearly all of the body’s muscles, swimming is also a great opportunity for children and their parents to spend quality time, learn about health and safety, grow through positive competitiveness, and an enjoy all types of waterplay.

Through the generations, the Jewish people have sustained themselves and flourished, in part, by greatly investing in the construction of community synagogues, and including within it facilities for a vibrant youth program, enhancing the davening experience for all of its members. Building a space that includes a sanctuary, a hall, and a kitchen, will bring to life a construction that will reflect and enhance both the inner and outer beauty of our community.

HOME
THIRD to EIGHTH FLOORS
DESCRIPTION:
These next six floors represent the crux of OYYL’s mission. On each of these floors, there will be a total of 4 classrooms:
-
one will be equipped for children with special education needs;
-
one will be geared towards mainstreaming children with special needs into the general population;
-
the last two classrooms will be set up with regular curriculum for general education children.
At the center of each of these floors, there will be a Meeting/Recreational room - here, in the heart of the school, is where our goal of creating a vibrant, welcoming program for all of our community children comes alive. While having lunch, playing at recess, or involved in creative school projects, this center room will provide the space for all of our students to learn and enact important life skills of inclusion, tolerance, and acceptance of fellow students, regardless of the challenges they may face. This carefully balanced mix of special education students and general education students will have opportunities to help each other out, fine tune their social skills. Through our inclusion program, our students will learn, in a very deep way, the benefits of living in a world where each person has their own individual strengths, and that these strengths are at their best when used to assist others with different strengths.
